Expression Rooted in Stewardship

Vineyard History

In the wine business, names matter. This “Little Ranch” (as translated from Spanish) was once an 1850s homestead. In 1985, it was planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, and in the ensuing years, our small vineyard became known for making monumental vineyard-designate wines.

Renewal

Always on the hunt for great terroir, we acquired the ranch in 2013 as an estate fruit source for Accendo Cellars. In 2014, renowned viticulturist Steve Matthiasson replanted Rancho Pequeño to red and white Bordeaux varieties and heritage clones.

Air & Light

Located on the eastern bench of the Oakville AVA, our 10-acre parcel benefits from southern sun exposure and cool marine breezes that flow in during the afternoon and remain until morning, preserving natural acidity and supporting vibrant aromatics in the fruit.

Soil & Stewardship

The soil type here is alluvial loam, washed down from the Vaca Mountain range. Our meticulous viticulture team at Silverado Farming works according to biodynamic, regenerative, and organic practices and principles. The vineyard is Napa Green certified.

There’s a palpable excitement for the potential of this vineyard.
