Expression Rooted in Stewardship & Potential

Vine row and a metal post labeled "Block 1" and "Block 2" for Cabernet Sauvignon, Ranch Pequeño, Oakville, harvested in 2021.

Discovery & Renewal

Always on the hunt for great terroir, we were intrigued by the location and potential of this “Little Ranch” (as translated from Spanish) and acquired the vineyard property in 2013.

In 2014, longtime friend and renowned viticulturist Steve Matthiasson replanted Rancho Pequeño to red and white Bordeaux varieties, using a selection of heritage clones.

Air & Light

Located on the eastern bench of the Oakville AVA, our 10-acre parcel benefits from southern sun exposure and cool marine breezes that flow in during the afternoon and remain until morning, preserving natural acidity and supporting vibrant aromatics in the fruit.

Sunlight shines through large, green grapevine leaves, creating a starburst effect among the dense foliage.
A wooden birdhouse is mounted on a pole in a vineyard with rows of grapevines and cloudy sky in the background.

Soil & Stewardship

The soil type here is alluvial loam, washed down from the Vaca Mountain range. Our meticulous viticulture team at Silverado Farming works according to biodynamic, regenerative, and organic practices and principles. The vineyard is Napa Green certified.
